DARLINGTON winger Lewis Nightingale has completed a permanent move back to Farsley Celtic.

He only joined Quakers after the end of last season from Farsley, but, despite a promising number of performances in pre-season, he made only a solitary appearance in the league as a substitute.

He spent the last month on loan to Farsley, and has now returned to the club where he was player of the year last season.

Nightingale said: “The move to Darlington hasn't worked out for whatever reason, but that's football. It is still early in the season and there is a long way to go. I am excited to be back.

“I have always enjoyed my time at Farsley Celtic. It is a great club to be at with a good set of lads and the location is a definite bonus. The team play football that suits my game, and I am looking forward to getting going again.

“The lads have made a fantastic start to the season and that must continue as we aim for promotion. I will be working hard and looking to add a few goals and assists in order to continue the fine run.”

Tomorrow he will play against Darlington’s landlords, Bishop Auckland, in the FA Cup at Farsley.

Farsley’s joint manager Neil Parley added: “The deal to bring Lewis back to Farsley has taken quite a bit of work over the last few weeks behind the scenes.

“We have all worked hard on getting the switch sorted, but I'd like to thank John Deecey and Josh Greaves for all the hard work that they have put in getting the deal over the line.”

Nightingale’s move comes 24 hours after Darlington boss Martin Gray made Amar Purewal and Adam Nowakowski available for loan.
