DARLINGTON hope to sign two players ahead of tonight’s trip to Bradford Park Avenue, including a goalkeeper.

He is due to join on loan from a fellow North-East club and will be pitched straight into action this evening when Quakers travel to the bottom of the table side.

Regular No. 1, Peter Jameson, needs a rest due to a thigh problem which has plagued him since early in the season.

While the keeper had appeared to have recovered sufficiently to keep his place in the team, Jameson was struggling with the issue during Saturday’s match at Nuneaton Town.

At one point he required treatment from physio Georgios Bellos, who signalled to Quakers manager Martin Gray that the keeper needed to be substituted, but Jameson stayed on albeit with right-back Liam Marrs taking goal kicks.

However, obtaining the necessary international clearance could delay the debut of Gray’s second target, a midfielder, whose most recent club was in Scotland.

Phil Turnbull’s hamstring injury will keep him out of action for two or three weeks, while Kevin Burgess is sidelined with medial ligament damage.

With Gary Brown and Josh Gillies now available after recovering from their respective injuries, Gray will make changes to his starting XI this evening, with Nathan Cartman also likely to get the nod.

“One or two are ready to come back in,” admitted the manager, whose team drew 1-1 at the weekend. “We need to freshen things up a bit and one or two are ready to come straight in.

“You can only keep playing certain lads before they're fatigued. We’ve played a lot of games and we’ve had a few niggles along the way.

“We’re starting to get one or two back and we’re also without one or two, so you’ve got to keep working the squad.

“We’ve been unfortunate with injuries and they’ve all been muscular, which is not like us. We need to look at that and ask why it’s happening to see if we can prevent it.”

Bradford, have lost seven matches in a row, are yet to win this season and have conceded 27 goals in their ten games.

Quakers and Bradford PA were regular opponents in the Football League until 1970, with Darlington last visiting the Horsfall Stadium shortly after Colin Todd took over as manager in 2009. Todd’s team won 2-1 with goals by Lee Thorpe and Nigerian trialist Olushola Aganun Martins.

Also given a run-out were former Hartlepool defender Darren Williams and ex-Newcastle trainee James Marwood, neither of which signed for Darlington.
