DARLINGTON manager Martin Gray is hoping to discover potential new signings when he holds a trial for first-team players later this month.

Although he is currently speaking to a number of possible signings with the aim being to bolster the squad ahead of next season, he believes holding a trial session could be a productive method of increasing Quakers’ quality.

It was through holding a trial for new recruits that Lewis Gibbons came to the club a year ago, the former Sunderland youngster going onto become Darlington’s right-back during the first part of the campaign.

Anyone interested in attending trials is invited to Longfield School on Saturday, May 21, starting at 10am.

To register an interest, triallists must send an email with their cv to commercial@darlingtonfc.org, by Thursday, May 19.

Meanwhile, the inaugural Darlington youth tournament takes place next month and teams are invited to take part across a range of age groups.

Taking place on the weekend of June 11 and 12 at Eastbourne Sports Complex, Darlington, teams from under-6 to under-16 are welcome.
