As with the home strip, it is manufactured by Avec and Glenwood Paints are sponsors, while Cornerstone Business Solutions will have their brand displayed on the back of both the home and away playing shirts.

The new strip will be worn for the first time in this evening’s friendly away to Spennymoor Town, while they go on sale from Quaker Retail and online from Monday. Replica shirt prices are adult sizes £35, child sizes £30.

Darlington’s new kit represents the first time they have worn a red away from home since The Northern Echo-sponsored version in 2012-13, when they won promotion from the Northern League, while the colour has been the club’s most popular choice for a second strip.

They have now had a red away strip in seven of their last 11 campaigns.

Last season Darlington wore all-green away from home, and carried the logo of the Great North Air Ambulance, while the year before the shirt was pink with St Teresa’s Hospice on the front.
