DARLINGTON'S new shirt sponsors are Glenwood Paints.

The deal will see the Darlington-based firm have their logo emblazoned on Quakers’ home and away shirts.

Charlie Greenhalgh, Glenwood Paint Supplies’ managing director, said: “I have supported this club for over 50 years.

“This is a great opportunity for us and I am excited to be involved in helping DFC get back to where we wish to be.”

While Glenwood Paints’ logo will be displayed in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Premier Division, the firm’s name will not be on Quakers’ shirts tomorrow evening for the friendly match against Sunderland at Heritage Park.

But Darlington say that replica shirts bearing the sponsor’s logo will be available to purchase before the start of the new season, while they will soon reveal their new away kit.

Darlington Football Club Director, Dave Mills, said: “We are delighted to confirm Glenwood Paints as the club’s main first team shirt sponsor. We are honoured that they have entrusted us to carry their brand into the Northern Premier League Premier Division.

“It shows how far we have come in the last few years, and I’m convinced that this new partnership will help take our developing business profile to a whole new level. Glenwoods are leaders in their industry and in the local area and I’m sure that we can establish a fantastic working relationship together as we drive both businesses forward over the next 12 months.”

Glenwoods replace Cosyseal, whose named was emblazoned across Quakers’ shirts for two seasons and before them The Northern Echo were kit supporters during Darlington’s 2012-13 Northern League season.

In the past two years Darlington have carried the logo of a charity on their away shirt, St Teresa’s Hospice in 2013-14 and Great North Air Ambulance in 2014-15.

Anthony McMaster, the club’s new chief commercial officer, added: “Glenwood Paints are a well-established local business and Charlie has always been a supporter. We went out and discussed what we are trying to achieve on and off the pitch and presented this opportunity.

“It is very pleasing that they have bought into this and to this level of commitment. We are very thankful to them and look forward to working together over the next couple of years.”
