There will be changes to the Darlington side that this evening bids to atone for Saturday’s desperately disappointing defeat at Droylsden.

Quakers threw away a one-goal half-time lead against ten-man opposition, losing 2-1 and dropping to tenth in the table.

In-form Farsley, who are third, visit Heritage Park for a match which Quakers manager Martin Gray says will see changes in his team selection.

He said: “We need a reaction, we need a response and the good thing is we’ve this game has come around quickly to put right what happened on Saturday.

“We asked them to win the second half, not just draw 0-0. You’ve got to be better than that [lose from a winning position], you can’t allow that.

“You’ve to look at the bigger picture: It’s a long season and it’s one mistake that we’ve made, but we can’t afford too many more of them.”

Asked if there shall be changes to his team selection, Gray said: “There’ll be a few. There’s not going to be massive changes, but we expect more from one or two players and we expect that on Wednesday.

“It’s a big game and a tough game against a team that should’ve been in the play-offs last season in my opinion. They just missed out, but they will be up there again this season because they’ve improved their squad.”

There were positives on Saturday, however, with Darlington having stamped their authority on the game before the break and taking an early lead through Graeme Armstrong.

“The first half was very good,” said Gray. “We had a strong game-plan and we should’ve scored a second goal to put the game out of reach. What happened off the pitch did not help at all.

“But the first half performance was great, as was the second half of the game with West Auckland last week.”

Ryan Noble made his Darlington debut up front alongside Armstrong, and Gray added: “He did okay. He just needs games and some minutes on the pitch. He’ll get a chance for us and we’ll see how he does.”

Injured David Dowson is likely to remain sidelined until at least Sunday’s home FA Cup tie with Blyth Spartans.

There are two internationals in the Farsley squad in forward Adam Priestly and former Quakers winger Jason St Juste.

Priestly was a substitute for Gibraltar on Sunday when they took on Poland in a Euro 2016 qualifier. Gibraltar lost 7-0 with Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski scoring four.

St Juste, who at the weekend played for Saint Kitts and Nevis, joined Darlington in 2004-05, and Gray said: “It was me who wanted to sign Jason from Garforth, and then we sold him to Southampton. We brought him in as a youth team player.

“He’s had a good career at semi-pro level, he’s got a quick change of pace and he’s got a trick in him. He will be a threat.”
