Darlington's place in the Evo-Stik League First Division North has been confirmed by the Football Association, but
The FA's League Committee met yesterday and released their provisional league constitutions for Steps 1 to 4 of the Non-League pyramid.
Being in the 22-club Evo-Stik League First Division North means Quakers' longest trip will be to Cammell Laird in Merseyside and their shortest journey being to Harrogate RA. The season starts on August 17.
However, Darlington will not be playing Scarborough as the FA have placed them in the First Division South.
FA Vase winners Spennymoor, who finished second in the Northern League, hoped to be chosen for promotion.
They had the best points-per-game record outside the promoted clubs right across the country at Step 5 level, and there had been speculation that, with some clubs asking for relegation and others going bust in Step 4, then Moors might have been cherry picked.
But the FA stood by their agreement of only taking one from the Northern League.
Spennymoor manager Jason Ainsley said: "I think it's the right decision.
"We knew before the start of the season that only the champions would go up. However, if we were asked if we wanted promotion, then we would have taken it."
Ainsley played in Moors' game last night as they completed the Northern League season with a 2-0 win over Newcastle Benfield at the Brewery Field.
The result means they end the campaign on 109 points, 13 behind Darlington.
Meanwhile, Darlington are inviting promising youngsters to attend trials for their youth team next weekend.
Manager Martin Gray is keen to build a strong youth set-up and wants to attract talented teenagers to the club.
"This is a good opportunity for players to play for Darlington Football Club," said Gray, who used several youth team players during the season just completed.
"We're looking for players with ability who would like to play for us.
"Working with youth players is something close to my heart, it's something I've always done and I'd like to see Darlington give more youth players a chance."
The trials take place on an artificial surface at Longfield School, Darlington, 2-4pm on Saturday, May 25. For more information, contact Gray on 07738-131914.
