ST James' Park will host nine matches in the football tournament at the 2012 Olympic Games.

Newcastle United's home is one of six stadia hosting the Olympic football competition, which involves men's and women's teams.

St James' will host a men's preliminary round double-header on July 26, 2012, and another two men's games on July 29.

Two women's preliminary matches will take place on July 31, with a final men's preliminary match scheduled for August 1.

The ground will then play host to a women's quarter-final on August 3 and a men's quarter-final tie on August 4.

Tickets, which go on sale from March 15, will cost between £20 and £50.

Football is the only Olympic sport taking place right across Great Britain, with matches also scheduled for Wembley, which will host the final, Hampden Park (Glasgow), Old Trafford (Manchester), the Ricoh Arena (Coventry) and the Millennium Stadium (Cardiff), which will host the first Olympic event, a women's match on July 25.
