THURSDAY night’s game between Jarrow Roofing and West Auckland was briefly abandoned by the referee with just four minutes left.

The referee took the action after he red-carded Jarrow striker Dennis Knight for a foul, but the player hotly disputed the decision, and so the ref called the game off, but was then persuaded to carry on by both clubs.

West took the lead after 17 minutes when Anthony Bell fired in a free kick that Nathan Fisher helped into the net for his 42nd league goal of the season.

But West gifted Roofing an equaliser when a clearance by keeper Shane Bland rebounded off Roofing forward Lewis Walton into the net. The game finished 1-1 after the stoppage.

Marske United are now ten points behind leaders Morpeth with seven games in hand after they won 2-0 at Dunston UTS.

Glen Butterworth put them into the lead from a breakaway on 17 minutes, then Mikey Roberts made it 2-0 when he rounded the keeper from a Danny Earl pass just on half time.

In the league cup, Stockton came from behind to beat Morpeth 3-2.

Mark Davison put Morpeth into the lead on 5 minutes, but Jamie Owens fired Stockton level at the start of the second half. Ben Sayer restored Morpeth’s lead, but Stockton hit back with goals by Fred Woodhosue and Nathan Mulligan.

In the second division, Crook Town collected three valuable points against Billingham Town in a 2-1 win.

Crook took the lead after 6 minutes through Joel Gordon, but Ashley Lavan levelled soon after.

However, Crook regained the lead on half time with a Kyle Morris penalty.

Tow law easily beat Alnwick 5-0, while Willington lost 2-0 at home to Thornaby.
