Newcastle United have failed to win any of their last seven Premier League home games after their 1-1 draw with bottom-of-the-table Swansea at St James’s Park. This is now Rafa Benitez’s longest barren spell on home soil as a Premier League manager and the Magpies travel to the Etihad next weekend against Manchester City.

United are 35/1 (thirty-five!) with BetVictor to cause a shock and, when you consider both Burnley and Bristol City held half-time leads in cup ties already this year, that might attract some support.

The Magpies are 11/4 to be relegated after West Brom’s home win over Brighton and only three points above the drop zone.

Three teams from Everton down will be playing in the Championship next term, although Swansea (1/5 with BetVictor) are considered near certainties by the layers despite picking up four points from two away games since Carlos Carvalhal took over.

Sunderland remain bottom of the Championship after their 4-0 defeat at Cardiff and are 5/6 at BetVictor for back-to-back relegations and 4/1 to end the campaign with the wooden spoon.

The Black Cats entertain Hull at the Stadium Of Light on Saturday. Chris Coleman will be desperate to get a couple of new signings in between now and the end of the window. Liverpool’s Welsh international Ben Woodburn would be a magnificent signing and knows Coleman well from his time as Wales boss.

The young attacker is 1/3 at BetVictor to join (loan deals DO count) Sunderland this window, but I am not convinced Jurgen Klopp will let him go after the departure of Philippe Coutinho unless he gets a major signing between now and the end of the month.

Boro were left frustrated by a couple of controversial refereeing decisions which went against them at the Riverside against Fulham, but had enough chances to win.

Boro travel to Loftus Road and look a bit short at 6/5 with the R’s 5/2 and the draw at 9/4. Pulis’s side are 6/4 for a top six finish and the minimum of a play-off spot and that must be the objective given they are 11 points behind Derby County in the second automatic promotion place.

Hartlepool United are under threat of going into administration but must put behind any off-field concerns when Wrexham are the visitors on Saturday.

Pools are 13/8 at BetVictor to gain a first-win since November with the Red Dragons 17/10 and the draw at 9/4. Pools are 2/1 to finish the campaign in the bottom four although four clubs (Guiseley, Torquay, Solihull and Chester) are all long odds on to end the campaign in the relegation spots.
