DARLINGTON will have at least one new player in their squad for tomorrow's trip to Boston United.

Adam Dawson, a winger with Tranmere Rovers, has signed on loan for a month and Quakers manager Martin Gray has other players lined up after a busy week speaking to potential signings.

Last Saturday’s 3-0 home loss to South Shields was the final straw for the manager, who has spent the time since attempting to bring in fresh blood to a squad that has won one of its last nine matches.

Gray does say he has been pleased with his players’ response to last weekend’s defeat, but wants to make adjustments to the team with Dawson arriving, while Kevin Burgess is speaking to interested parties.

“I’ve just signed Adam Dawson from Tranmere Rovers, he’s a right-winger, can play on the left too,” said Gray.

“He did ever so well at Eastleigh a couple of years back and there have been a couple of clubs chasing him for the last few months.

“So I’m pleased to get him, and we’re trying to sign one or two more before the weekend, so I’m working hard on the phone.

“I’ve spent a lot of time on the phone this week and I’ve got one or two potential deals lined up.”

Burgess was made available on Wednesday evening, the captain’s days with Darlington coming to an end after 77 games for the club after signing in 2015 from Whitby Town.

Gray said: “One or two club have put an offer in, so we’re just waiting to see where he wants to go.”
