Spennymoor Town 3 Bradford Park Avenue 0

Spennymoor have now got three wins out of three in the Vanarama National League North thanks to this victory over Bradford at the Brewery Field.

The points came their way courtesy of a three goal burst just before half time, after Bradford had the better of the opening exchanges.

Bradford started the game better and had the game’s first chance through Wayne Brooksby that went straight at Dan Lowson, then Adam Boyes beat a defender only for Lowson to save again.

Glen Taylor had Moors’ first opportunity with a header, that was comfortably saved by Steven Drench in the Bradford goal.

But Bradford, who lost heavily to York last Saturday, should have taken the lead with a header by James Knowles from a Brooksby corner, and then Boyes was wasteful with another good chance.

But the game suddenly turned on its head in Moors’ favour. After barely threatening all game, they took the lead on 36 minutes with a good run up the right hand side by Ryan Hall, and he crossed for Glen Taylor to head home.

A minute later it was 2-0, when Taylor deliberately deflected an effort by David Foley past the keeper, then Andrew Johnson grabbed a third with a free header from a Mattie Dixon cross.

And it was nearly 4-0 when Taylor raced away in a 1 on 1, but Drench saved.

In the second half, Hall fired just over as Moors kept control, but they nearly conceded when Botes forced Lowson to tip his shot over the bar.

But Moors regained control again, and Rob Ramshaw was unlucky near the end, but he was denied by the keeper’s feet.
