NEWCASTLE UNITED have finally reached an agreement with Norwich City that should see Jacob Murphy become their third signing of the summer.

Weeks of negotiations finally reached a resolution earlier this afternoon when the Canaries accepted a £12.5m offer for the England Under-21 international.

Having turned down Newcastle's initial offer for Murphy earlier this month, the Norwich hierarchy finally agreed to sell when Magpies chief executive Lee Charnley agreed to meet their minimum terms.

Murphy travelled to Germany with the rest of the Norwich City squad at the weekend, but the winger will now leave the Canaries' training base in order to undergo a medical.

He is due to fly to Newcastle's current training base at Carton House, near Dublin, this evening, and his transfer should be formally confirmed within the next 24 hours.

Rafael Benitez urged Mike Ashley to live up to his promises of financial support earlier this afternoon, and the Magpies manager will be delighted that Murphy now looks like becoming Newcastle's third summer signing following the earlier arrivals of Christian Atsu and Florian Lejeune.

Meanwhile, Newcastle youngster Adam Armstrong has joined Championship side Bolton Wanderers on loan until January.
