Boro are set to revert to a five-man defence for the first time since the goalless draw against Burnley.
A fit-again Calum Chambers returns to the heart of the defence, with the Arsenal loanee set to play alongside Ben Gibson and Daniel Ayala.
George Friend returns to the side to line up in the left wing-back slot, with Antonio Barragan set to start on the opposite flank.
Gaston Ramirez is expected to start in the hole behind Alvaro Negredo, who will once again start as a lone striker.
