ADAM Bartlett, the Hartlepool United goalkeeper, has had his contract cancelled in order to move to a coaching role with Middlesbrough.
Bartlett recently lost his place to Boro loanee Joe Fryer and has been on the bench in recent weeks.
He started the season as understudy to Trevor Carson and leaves after 11 appearances this campaign.
The former Newcastle and Gateshead shot-stopper leaves after making 29 appearances for Pools and he has racked up a career total of 343 games.
It means Pools will see out the remaining eight games of the League Two season with Ryan Catterick, who last week signed his first professional deal, as back-up to Fryer.
The pair will work under new goalkeeping coach Adriano Basso, who was appointed last week.
Pools' reserve game with Grimsby on Wednesday has been switched from Billingham Town to The Northern Gas and Power Stadium.
