Spennymoor manager Jason Ainsley reckoned that his team threw away points in a 2-2 draw at Bamber Bridge on Saturday.

Moors were in the lead twice, but they wasted some good chances to finish the game off, and they conceded a second half equaliser to leave them in fifth place in the table, nine points behind leaders Northwich Victoria.

“I’m tired of us going in the lead, and then not seeing games out,” he said. “I thought we had enough chances to win the game, didn’t take them, and then conceded a sloppy goal for the equaliser. “The frustrating thing is, that we have played worse and won.

For example, we were poor at Witton Albion and won the game. We’re playing well in general play, and we’re going into December unbeaten in the league away from home, which is a great achievement.

But we could have gained more points away, and if we have aspirations of winning this league, then we have to win at places like Bamber Bridge.” Moors took the lead after seven minutes when Lewis Hawkins was in the heart of a good move down the right, and he set up Shane Henry to score from a few yards out.

The home side responded when Nicky Platt fired home on 36 minutes, but Moors nearly regained the lead when Joe Tait was narrowly off target from a Scott Kerr free kick. But Tait had better fortune just on half time when he scored from an Andrew Stephenson corner.

The Preston side equalised soon after the restart when Regan Linney scored with a left foot shot from 25 yards, but then Moors missed several chances to pick up all the points.

Henry and Liam Henderson had shots tipped over the bar, Gavin Cogdon saw an effort go just wide, and they had two strong penalty appeals turned down.
