Spennymoor manager Jason Ainsley has told his players not to let their standards slip at home to bottom club Padiham on Saturday.

Moors go into the game in fifth place in the table, just two points behind fourth placed Bamber Bridge with two games in hand after beating Clitheroe in midweek.

“We’ve put in some good performances recently,” said Ainsley. “We’ve beaten Clitheroe twice and Warrington, and now everybody is expecting to beat Padiham because they’re bottom of the table.

“But that doesn’t mean a thing. We’ve played Prescot twice this season and not scored against them, and we were poor on the day against New Mills.

“This is an unforgiving league, if you don’t play anywhere near your best then you’ll be punished. We have earned our right to be in the play off places, if we let it fall now, then that will be unacceptable.

“After the midweek win at Clitheroe the players are full of confidence and look full of goals.”

Defender Dan Groves returns to the squad after a holiday, while striker Liam Henderson will have a fitness test.
