PAUL Murray has made his first signing, with former Walsall midfielder Nicky Featherstone joining Hartlepool United.

The 26-year-old can play in a central or wide role and has been playing for Harrogate Town after a short-term deal at Scunthorpe expired in the early stages of this season.

He made 55 appearances for Walsall and started his career at Hull City.

Murray spoke at his press conference this morning of the need to add players to his squad, and he has been looking experience.

Featherstone said: "It's been a really difficult summer, but I'm just glad to be in the Football League to be honest.

"After I left Scunthorpe, I went to get some games at Harrogate while I waited to get back into the league and (boss) Simon Weaver was great for me.

"I'm really pleased to be here, it's a great bunch of lads, and we're only thinking about getting a positive result on Saturday and progressing back up the table."
