Final score: Warrington Town 1 Spennymoor 0.

Spennymoor saw their 100 per cent away record ended at Warrington, but Moors manager Jason Ainsley wasn’t too downhearted.

Moors were beaten by a 22nd minute strike by Louis Corrigan, but Ainsley was still encouraged by his team’s display.

“Apart from the first 20 minutes, I thought we were excellent,” he said.” We created plenty of chances, but missed them.

“We got plenty of plaudits from their manager saying that we’re the best team they’ve played and all that, but I don’t want to hear things like that.

“We limited Warrington to only one shot, and that was the one they scored from.”

Moors nearly took the lead with a powerful header by centre half Paul Johnson, but Warrington keeper Karl Wills saved superbly.

Warrington took the lead midway through the first half, when Louis Corrigan fired home through a crowd of players.

In the second half, Gavin Cogdon struck the post, Liam Henderson fired wide, while Wills pulled off another great stop from Henderson.

Moors are at home to Ossett Albion on Tuesday night. Ainsley is also giving a trial to striker Ben Sayer, who has left Blyth Spartans, while he has still to receive an offer for transfer listed keeper Kyle Hayes.
