YORK CITY boss Nigel Worthington has warned his players not to become too despondent despite Saturday’s stalemate with Wycombe Wanderers having made it five draws in succession.

The Minstermen drew 0-0 at Bootham Crescent, meaning all five of their League Two matches have now finished all square.

York’s failure to win a game means they are rooted in the bottom half of the table, but as one of just four sides not have suffered a defeat this term, Worthington maintains his side are not too far away from stringing together a sequence of more positive results.

“We’re not far away from getting that win,” said the York boss. “The word patience doesn’t often go down well in football, but I have got to be patient.

“We can’t get disappointed or frustrated because, once that sets in, the players get a little bit shy of their jobs, so it’s important to keep believing.”

York’s best chance of the game came to nothing when Jake Hyde failed to find the target from close range in the second half, and the hosts were grateful to goalkeeper Michael Ingham, who saved Paul Hayes’ late shot with his legs.
