Tadcaster 0 Spennymoor Town 2.

Spennymoor Town manager Jason Ainsley reckoned that beaten opponents Tadcaster were better than some Evo-Stik teams.

Moors now await the winners of Tuesday’s replay between Bishop Auckland and Jarrow Roofing to learn who they play in the next round, and Ainsley was relieved to dispose of the Northern Counties East League side.

“I reckon that Tadcaster were better than some of the teams in our league, and would finish high up. You could see how they had scored fourteen goals in their previous three games,” he said.

“While the game stayed at 0-0, we were worried that it might have gone against us, but we scored two good goals in the second half. It’s a possible banana skin out of the way.”

Anthony Peacock was just off target in the first half, and before half time, Tadcaster lost defenders Andrew Milne and Denny Ingram because of injury.

Moors broke through a few minutes after half time when Peacock ran on to a chested through ball by Craig Lynch, and he tucked it under the keeper.

They made the game safe on the hour when Liam Henderson cut in from the left and beat the keeper with a low shot.
