JOHN HUGHES and long-serving Michael Barron have been told their time at Hartlepool United is over.
Hughes took over in November last year when Pools were rooted to the foot of League One and gave them a chance of survival by winning five from seven games.
But Hartlepool were unable to finish the great escape and - after heading off on an end of season holiday - the former Celtic defender has been told his reign is over.
Barron is also leaving Victoria Park after a 17-year association with Pools. After ending his playing days he has also worked as youth team coach, first team coach and reserve team coach.
A Pools statement read: "Hartlepool United can announce that John Hughes and Micky Barron have been given notice of termination per the relevant clauses in their contracts of employment.
"The club would like to thank John for all his efforts to try and secure League One status since he joined the Club in November 2012. We wish him all the very best for the future. There will be no further comment at this time."
