Jason Gillespie could be set for a return to Yorkshire as their new first-team coach.

The former Australian Test fast bowler, currently coaching Gary Ballance's Mid West Rhinos side in Zimbabwe, has thrown his hat into the ring to replace Craig White as part of the club's new coaching structure.

Yorkshire's members and fans will almost certainly find out the identity of the new four-man coaching team to work under director of professional cricket Martyn Moxon during the middle of next week.

The club are planning to hold a press conference, where they are also expected to reveal the identity of a new playing recruit or two.

There will definitely be two new faces joining the coaching staff, with Moxon confirming that former batting coach Kevin Sharp will follow Craig White out of the door having asked for redundancy.

The club's two bowling coaches, Steve Oldham and John Blain, are also expected to leave Headingley having served the club since 1983 and 2008 respectively.

Speculation is rife that Gillespie, 36, leads the race to take the job of first-team coach after spending two seasons as the White Rose overseas player in 2006 and 2007.

Despite losing out in the race to Craig McDermott to become Australia's new bowling coach earlier this year, the 71-time Test player was appointed as their A side's assistant coach.

He has coached the Rhinos for two domestic campaigns, including the current one.
