Yorkshire director of cricket Martyn Moxon is planning major changes to his first-team squad over the next few months.

Following the disappointing performances this summer, Moxon is hoping to sign up to three new players before the start of next season, with a number of the current squad leaving in order to fund the new arrivals.

He said: "We are looking to bring in a couple of players. Hopefully they will have a bit more experience because I think we have missed that at key periods.

"To bring people in we need to offload some. That work is in progress.''

It means Yorkshire are likely to be far busier in the transfer market this winter than they were last year.

Only Ryan Sidebottom arrived at Headingley, with only Jacques Rudolph departing, who left to go back to South Africa.

He is understood to be in talks with the county about returning as Yorkshire's overseas player for 2012, while David Wainwright is expected to leave.

On the pitch yesterday, the Tykes were again frustrated by the weather on the second day of their final County Championship match.

They must secure a win to have any chance of staying up, but after rain severely disrupted day one against Somerset, day two was just as truncated.

Just 42 overs were possible, although a terrific bowling display from Ryan Sidebottom did give the Headingley faithful something to cheer.

After play started at 1.45, he produced an inspired spell of bowling to take four for 14 as the visitors were skittled out for 265.

This could have been a lot less, had tail ender Alfonso Thomas not been given a let off when he edged a chance to either wicket-keeper Jonny Bairstow or first slip Adam Lyth when he had made only 14.

Neither moved an inch to take what would have been a regulation chance, with the South African then sharing a tenth wicket stand of 50 with Steve Kirby before being bowled by Adil Rashid for 49.

It left Yorkshire nine overs and reached 20 for 0.
