Liam Plunkett has agreed a 12-month contract extension to stay at Yorkshire until the end of next year.

Four-time County Championship winner Plunkett is set for another big summer with club and country, and at the age of 31 has signed up for another season at least at Headingley.

After his successful one-day international tour of the West Indies last month, Plunkett is set for a central role as England bid to win just their second global tournament in the mid-summer Champions Trophy.

After signing his new deal at Yorkshire, the former Durham seamer set his sights on further success following championship titles with the White Rose in 2015 and 2016.

"It's my fifth season at the club," he said.

"Since I joined, we've enjoyed nothing but success and it's been good fun.

"Last year we just missed out but during the previous two years we managed to win the championship and we hope this year we can do it again.

"We see last year as a blip."

Without Plunkett, who missed Yorkshire's first fixture of the new campaign because of a calf injury, Gary Ballance's team began with a defeat at home to Hampshire.

He added: "I've got a bit of a niggle at the moment but I hope I'll be back fighting fit in the next couple of weeks and I'm very much looking forward to putting the whites back on and getting back out there for Yorkshire."
