Swalwell take over top spot as favourites locked horns

In the NTSL, Swalwell – two points behind early leaders Sacriston before Saturday – are now ten points ahead of them in pole position after the two favourites locked horns.

Swalwell hit 285-5 with their trio of big hitters, Ian Pattison (96), Lloyd Anderson (90) and Richard Hawthorne (55) in terrific form.

Anderson and Hawthorne shared an opening stand of 149, but Pattison’s knock which followed was even more spectacular. He made his 96 from 67 balls.

Sacriston’s response finished 78 runs short.

Neil Killeen was again in stunning form for Annfield Plain hitting 63 and taking three wickets, but still finishing on the losing side against Tynedale for whom Tom Cant grabbed six wickets.

Phil Brown hit an unbeaten 113 for Shotley Bridge against Burnopfield while Lanchester’s opening pair, Paul Underwood (119 not out) and Lawrence Pearson (53 not out), enjoyed an unbroken opening stand of 193 against Chopwell to lift them off the bottom of the league.
