Castle Eden are champions of the Readers Durham Cricket League, after a 124 run win at home to Durham City, who have slipped to third.

Eden batted first and made 213 all out, mainly thanks to Robbie McGlasham scoring 89 and Keith Bailey who made 36, with Paul Moralee taking 4-47 and Rob MacDonald returning 3-43.

The visitors could only muster 89 all out, with Callum Steel top scoring with 47, after Alan Unsworth took an excellent 4-5, following two wickets apiece for Bailey and Richard Ede.

Littletown won the crucial relegation encounter, in a low scoring game at home to Dawdon. They made 119-9, with Michael Ewart taking an excellent 4-36 and Bewick Hall top scoring with 24. In reply, the visitors made just 50, with Joe Dodd taking a brilliant 6-18 and Siddhesh Kinalekar 3-7, to win by 69 runs.

It’s now any two from three, who will be relegated next week, following Littletown’s win. Bill Quay lost at home to Horden, which makes the visitors safe.

South North were crowned champions of the Dukes ECB North-East Regional Premier League after beating the Durham Cricket Academy by a mammoth 151 runs.

They batted first and racked up 270-8 off 54 overs. Calum MacLeod led the way with an excellent century (107), which included 16 fours and Rob Peyton with 80, which included 10 fours, with Haidar Shafiq claiming 3-65 with the ball.

The Academy never got going and Jonathan Wightman took 3-50 and Lee Crozier with 3-24, doing the early damage. Christopher McBride made 43 to put up some resistance, but they were eventually all out for 119.

Chester-le-Street moved into third place with a resounding win at Stockton by seven wickets.

They inserted the home side, who made just 102 thanks mainly to John Harrison claiming 3-14, with Christopher Hooker carrying his bat for 43 not out. Kyle Davis with 43 and Andrew Smith with 51 not out ensured an easy victory for the Cestrians.

Eppleton lost at bottom club South Shields, following an impressive 147 not out from Salman Ahmed off 146 balls, including 10 fours and ten sixes, in a massive total of 254-4. Eppleton lost early wickets, but dug in and Alexander Simpson made 34, alongside Tyler Easton with 85 and skipper Craig Scurr with 53.

However, excellent bowling from Salman Ahmed 4-64 and Sam Taylor-Gell 3-41, ensured they won the game with the visitors making 232 all out, to ensure the relegation scrap, will go to the last day on Saturday.

Hetton Lyons played out a draw at Tynemouth, with the home side making 229-4. Ben Debnam with 39 and Matty Brown with 89, were the main run scorers. The Lyons lost early wickets and had to thank Robert Talbot, for his 39 not out, alongside Ben Whitehead 20 not out, to bat for the draw.

Sacriston are first division champions and will be playing in the top flight next season.

They had an easy win at Boldon, bowling the home side out for 79, thanks to Callum Appleby with 4-20 and Graeme Bridge with 3-15 doing the damage.

Will Gidman with 41 not out and Reece Carr with 31 not out, put on 76 for the second wicket, to ensure an easy victory.

Burnopfield won at home to Burnmoor and are now second, with the visitors slipping to third place. Brandon are fourth and Seaham Harbour alongside Mainsforth, were officially relegated.

Shotley Bridge are in pole position to win the Go North-East Northumberland and Tyneside Senior League, as they opened up a six-point lead at the top over Swalwell, with just one game to go. They overcame relegated Pontefract, by a massive 136 runs after scoring 197 all out.

Mick Allen scored 51 after early losses, with Stuart Graham adding 33 and Ross Andrews a vital 30 near the end of the innings, with Nikil Ponna taking 3-43. In reply, the home side made just 61, with Allen taking 3-25 with the ball and Jack Rowley returned an excellent 5-13, for an easy victory.

Swalwell suffered a shock defeat at Tynedale in the title race, when they were beaten by five wickets.

They amassed 237 all out, thanks mainly to James Welch scoring 45 and a century coming from Lloyd Anderson (133), with Thomas Cant returning 3-39. Tynedale then did well to knock off the runs, with Cant making 65, James Rainford 52 and Euan Stephenson 50, to put a serious dent in the visitor’s title ambitions.
