DARLINGTON moved into fifth position in the league, after a resounding nine wicket win at Seaton Carew. They asked Seaton Carew to bat first and only opener Matthew Skirving put up any resistance, scoring 26.

Jonny Barnes was outstanding with the ball taking 5-22 off his 15 overs, including seven maidens. He removed five of the top six batsmen and with Dale Marshall chipping in with 3-17, Seaton only managed to score 79.

Darlington’s opener James Sutton then made 51 not out, to ease his team home for the twenty points, with the loss of just one wicket, off 21-1 overs.

Barnard Castle were beaten at home to Marton by five wickets. After they were put into bat, Barney made a decent score of 236 all out. Opener Karl Turner was in good touch and he made 82, including 12 fours. Marton’s spinner Muhammed Zahid made life difficult taking 4-48 and skipper Alex Wardell returned an excellent 5-60.

In reply, Marton’s opener, Jonathan Spillane made an excellent century (106), with 13 fours and 2 sixes off 125 balls and Alex Wardell added 36, putting on 63 with him, after professional Aamer Sajjad was trapped in front for (0), by Karl Turner.

Then Danny Kitching came into bat and he smashed the bowling around the ground, with 64 not out, including 6 fours and 5 sixes, off just 35 balls, to win the game, in the last over of the match.

Richmondshire are still without a win, after going down by six wickets, at home to Great Ayton. The visitors asked Richmondshire to bat first and they made 235-8, with Andrew Fleming (48) and Gary Pratt (41), putting on 88 for the first wicket. Sam Winter coming in at eight, then smashed 50 off 38 balls, with 4 fours and 3 sixes and Chris Allinson was the pick of the bowling, taking 4-39.

Great Ayton then batted and Chris Batchelor was in great touch, scoring 103 off 150 balls, including 15 fours and a six. Man of the match Chris Allison, then added 71 and they put on 126 together, for the second wicket. Justin Pretorius returned 3-46, and was the pick of the bowling.

Stokesley have now won their first three games and lead the table by three points, when they overcame Hartlepool at Park Drive by five wickets. Pools batted first and were restricted to 177-8, following some fine bowling from professional Aubrey Swanepoel taking 4-48 and spinner Harry Harding claimed 2-42, with Jonathan Rickard making 70 runs for the home side

Hartlepool could not contain Stokesley’s skipper Andrew Weighell, who then led from the front and made 92 runs, despite James Ward taking 3-60.

Middlesbrough amassed nearly 300 runs, when they scored 290-7 at Marske. Both openers made centuries, with skipper James Lowe making 108 off 115 balls and Sam Gaudie struck 101 off 80 balls, in an opening partnership worth 169. Steven Reeves added 34 in a quick fire innings and Marske’s John Mains returned 4-81, with the ball.

In reply, Marske were left clinging on for the draw at 168-8 and but for Christopher Lince with just 7 runs off 47 balls and John Mains 10 not out at the end off 26 balls, they would have lost. Earlier Marske batted reasonably well, with professionals Lee Hodgson (38) and Saeed Bin Nasir making (63), plus Lewis Harper contributing 40.

However, Steven Reeves with (3-48) and man of the match James Lowe (4-33), had Marske in real trouble, but they managed to draw the game, in the end.

Guisborough hammered Norton at Rectory Lane by eight wickets, with man of the match and professional Shanuka Dissanayake returning fantastic figures of 7-8, from his bowling spell.

Although Guisborough wobbled early on, with the loss of two early wickets for just 16 runs, when Mark Binks removed Nick Hood and Tyrone Webster, but Dissanayake then came in and smashed the bowling around for 49 not out, including 10 fours to easily win the game in the end.
