England humbled in New Zealand

England lost the opening Test in New Zealand by a humiliating 189 runs after a second innings collapse.

The tourists were seeking 300 for victory - but were skittled out for a mere 110.

That only two England batsmen made it into double figures said it all. They were all out in only 55 overs with Kyle Mills claiming four for 16 while fellow seamer Chris Martin finished with three for 33.

England have only one overseas victory in their last 17 Tests.

Vaughan told Sky Sports 1: "It's never nice to lose a game but to lose in that manner, and play the way we did - certainly on this last day - we really have to ask ourselves questions.

"To get bowled out for 110 on that kind of pitch . . .

"We had every intention of batting well, getting wickets in hand, but when you lose four wickets with the batting order we have, we shouldn't be getting out like that, not on that kind of wicket.

Vaughan added: "When you lose the first one, you know you have to win the next two to win the series. Maybe that could be a good thing, we can just go out and play and try to play with our natural talent.''
