JONNY Bairstow was named as expected as England's wicketkeeper in place of the injured Jos Buttler for the Royal London Series decider against New Zealand at Chester-le-Street.
England summoned Bairstow as cover on Friday, after Buttler split webbing on his left hand in fielding drills and had to have stitches in the wound.
The hosts were otherwise unchanged. But, with the series level at 2-2, the Kiwis sprung a surprise by bringing debutant fast bowler Andrew Mathieson in from outside the tour squad to replace Mitchell McClenaghan.
On a cloudy morning, England captain Eoin Morgan won the toss and chose to bowl first.
