YORKSHIRE are chasing a target of 304 to beat Hampshire at the Ageas Bowl and claim their tenth LV= County Championship win of the season.

A successful recovery from an early morning score of 37-3, which is now 96-3 from 28 overs at lunch, would see them clinch a record points haul of 265 points in Division One cricket.

The champions declared their first innings on 97-4 before play this morning, with a deficit of 303 runs. Hampshire then forfeited their second innings to set up a chase in a minimum of 96 overs.

West Indies quick Fidel Edwards bowled Alex Lees with one that kept low before Adam Lyth was victim of a direct hit run out at the non-striker’s end by Jimmy Adams from mid-wicket.

Gary Ballance was later caught behind down the leg-side off Gareth Berg’s medium pace to hand the hosts the advantage.

Andrew Gale and Jack Leaning have shared an unbroken 59 for the fourth wicket and will resume this afternoon on 34 and 23 not out respectively.
