MARK WOOD'S burgeoning reputation as an England player in all three forms of the game means Durham are unlikely to see much more of him this season.

The same applies to Ben Stokes as neither is available for tonight's NatWest T20 Blast match at home to Lancashire (6.30).

Others, such as Eoin Morgan and David Willey who played in Tuesday's T20 international have been made available for tomorrow night, when Lancashire are again in action against Birmingham Bears at Old Trafford.

The Bears will have New Zealand captain Brendan McCullum making his debut, while another Kiwi, Luke Ronchi, is to play for Somerset and Grant Elliott will be returning to Leicestershire.

Under the points system for England appearances, Wood has now earned an increment contract and seems certain to be involved in the Ashes series, starting on July 8.

The England squad fly to Spain on Saturday for a week's preparation under new coach Trevor Bayliss.

If Durham qualify for the T20 quarter-finals there is a chance that the England players will be available as the matches will be played on August 12-15, during a ten-day break between the fourth and fifth Tests.

There is also a nine-day gap between the third and fourth Tests, during which Durham begin their defence of the Royal London Cup at Northampton on July 25. They are at home to Worcestershire two days later.

After losing their last two home T20 games against Worcestershire and Warwickshire, Durham cannot afford another defeat tonight if they are to hang on to the fourth qualification spot.

Lancashire are one of four teams who are within two points of Durham with a game in hand and have been strengthened by the inclusion of Australian all-rounder James Faulkner since Durham won by 16 runs at Old Trafford.
