WORLD number 11 Alex Noren is targeting a second victory on British soil this season after confirming he will defend his title in the British Masters on Tyneside next month.

The Swede claimed a two shot victory at The Grove in 2016 to add to the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open title he won earlier that season, and he went on to win four times in total on the 2016 Race to Dubai.

Noren has continued that form into the current campaign, winning the BMW PGA Championship in May – the launch event of the European Tour’s new Rolex Series – courtesy of a stunning final round 62 at Wentworth Club.

He will hope for further success on British soil when he joins tournament host Lee Westwood, the former world No 1, in the field for the British Masters supported by Sky Sports at Close House, Northumberland, from September 28 to October 1.

Masters champion Sergio Garcia will also be part of the star line-up and fans can book their tickets online – for further information check out www.closehouse.com/british-masters.

Noren said: “I’m really looking forward to defending my British Masters title at Close House next month. I’ve always enjoyed playing in Britain, and in front of the British fans. I won the Scottish Open as well as the British Masters last year and then won at Wentworth earlier this year, so I’ve had some success in Britain and it would be nice to play well again. It’s set to be a good field with Sergio playing and Lee hosting, so it should be a great week.”
