THERE was success for Sharpley’s Simon Robinson when the NE/NW PGA circuit reached its busiest point.

In the Northumberland and Durham Open at Rockliffe Hall, Hartlepool-born Robinson defended the title with rounds of 71 and 69 for a two shot win over Darren Pearce.

Morpeth’s David Clark claimed the honours in their version of the PGA Championship after shooting a five under-par total of 139 to earn a two shot win over Craig Goodfellow at Bishop Auckland. Vince Guest finished in third place another shot back.

Robinson then added a four shot win at the Maryport Pro-Am to his N&D Open win and Clark added the Middlesbrough Pro-Am title to his 2017 record.

There were other success stories too. Former European Tour winner Kenneth Ferrie won the Hadrian Healthcare Pro Am at Whickham by setting a new course record of seven under-par (64).

Washington-based Ryan Ingram collected his first professional tittle at the Ramside Hall Pro Am with a three under-par 69. Michael Pilgrim and Jonathan Graham also collected wins, at the Billingham 50th Celebration Pro Am and Teesside GC Pro Am respectively.
