EAGLESCLIFFE and George Washington have sealed a place in the Durham final of the Northumberland & Durham Inter County Foursomes.

Eaglescliffe were the first to secure their place when they followed up a third round 2&1 victory over Boldon by defeating Ramside 4&3.

George Washington needed to go to the first extra hole to beat Brancepeth Castle in a close encounter at Garesfield having already beaten Durham City with one hole to spare in the previous round.

The winners of the Durham final to be played at Newbiggin Golf Club on Saturday will progress to represent the county against either the City of Newcastle or Bedlingtonshire, who will compete the Northumberland final for the right to reach the Inter County final.

BLACKWELL Grange Golf Club will host a charity open golf tournament in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust on Friday, May 13.

There will be a Ford Fiesta car donated by Evans Halshaw up for grabs for the first golfer to record a hole-in-one on the ninth hole.

The golf day invites men’s and ladies teams at a cost of £25 per person and that includes breakfast, dinner, great prizes and a beat the pro game.
