TWO of the region’s most promising players have been earmarked as future England golfers.

Bishop Auckland’s Jessica Hall and Tyneside’s James Wilson are among four chosen to attend the England Golf Under-18 AASE Regional Training Scheme.

The programme will run over the next two years with lead coach Andy Paisley and regional manager Dave Charlton. It means they teenagers will head to Hexham and should provide Hall and Wilson with an NVQ Level 3 qualification in sporting excellence and it starts this Saurday.

Paisley and Charlton will attempt to provide advanced instruction and will deal with all sections of the game, including preparation for tournaments and course management. It is expected there will be 40 coaching and match days over the two-year period.

CLUB champion Ian Pattison is celebrating after a fantastic year at Dinsdale Spa. Pattison was presented with numerous trophies when Dinsdale held its annual presentation night. Not only did he win the Club Championship by a record score in the summer, he also won the Murray Trophy, Shepherd Trophy, Tiger Trophy (for the lowest gross of the season) Challenge Bowl (lowest net in the Club Championship over 36 holes) and the McQuistan Trophy (Club Championship, Lowest gross over 36 holes). On top of that the in-form Pattison won the Teesside Golf Union Second Division by recording the most points gained. Along with playing partner Martin Janes he won Dinsdale’s knockout pairs competition.

A HEXHAM high-handicapper has earned the chance to win a trip after winning the latest Road to Morocco event at Slaley Hall.

Nicola Carr, who plays off 33, was crowned champion at the club’s sponsored medal event, one of a series of nationwide tournaments organised by the Moroccan National Tourism Office (MNTO) and QHotels.

The Road to Morocco series encompasses all 11 of QHotels’ golf resorts, with 22 member events, for both men and women – with each winner entered into a draw to win a trip to Morocco. Two competition winners from the series – one male, one female – win a four-night Moroccan holiday for two people, with flights included.
