BOXING superstar Floyd Mayweather has won the battle for Savannah Marshall’s signature – and she will move to Las Vegas to enhance her global reputation.

Hartlepool's Marshall has been inundated with offers from across the world since deciding to leave behind the amateur game, having claimed a long list of honours representing Great Britain.

And the middleweight has agreed to sign a four-year deal with Mayweather Promotions, fronted by the biggest name in boxing, Floyd, who retired in 2015 having equalled Rocky Marciano’s unbeaten record of 49-0.

Now Britain’s first female women’s world champion can focus on an exciting new chapter in her life when she will see her career hit new heights.

It is an incredible life-changing break for the 25-year-old and she is looking to rule the world in the ring under Mayweather’s guidance.

“It does not come any better than signing for Floyd Mayweather, does it?” said Marshall. “When I left GB I had nothing lined up, I just wanted to train and look at what options were out there.

“Then this opportunity came up and I could not have been happier. It’s a dream come true and I can’t wait to get started.”

Marshall’s big break in the pro ranks came when her GB team-mate Sandy Ryan’s boyfriend, Sam Jones, introduced her to Mayweather Promotions.

A hugely financially rewarding fight with America’s two-time gold medal winner Claressa Shields looks inevitable and will have certainly appealed to Mayweather and his team.

Marshall is the only fighter to have defeated Shields when she outpointed her en route to becoming the 2012 world champion.

The former Headland Amateur Boxing Club boxer has won medals at the World Championships, including gold in 2012, and gold at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in 2014.

She couldn’t cap her success story off as an amateur with a medal at the Olympics, although many felt she was harshly done by after a poor points decision in the quarter-final defeat in Rio, Brazil, to Holland’s Nouchka Fontijn.
