Northern Area title fight postponed
NEXT month’s scheduled Northern Area title fight between Birtley’s Tom Whitfield and Hartlepool’s Daniel Cope has been postponed after the former suffered a broken jaw during sparring.
Whitfield sustained the injury on Saturday and is unable to line up in what would have been the headline attraction at Dunston’s Lancastrian Suite on March 18.
Cope will still appear as part of the show, with promoter Steve Wraith lining up a new opponent for a six-round contest.
Next month’s bill will also feature North-East fighters Jeff Saunders, Lee Mould, Paul Gidney, Billy Snaith and Christian Adjoufack.
