It’s the Dunn thing at Barrage 10K

NORTH Yorkshire and South Durham Harrier League champion Gary Dunn scored a comfortable victory in the third Tees Barrage 10K at Stockton.

The Thirsk and Sowerby Harrier clocked a modest 32 mins 12 secs, nearly two minutes outside the course record set in 2006 by Morpeth Harrier Martin Scaife.

Dunn beat another Morpeth Harrier, Terry Wall, by an emphatic 38 seconds, with North York Moors runner Paul Lowe third in 32 mins 53 secs.

It was the 39-year-old Yorkshireman's second 10K victory in just over a week, having won the Fountains race in 33 mins 49 secs on April 27.

The women's race was won by 22-year-old World Student Cross Country championships international and Northern cross country championships silver medallist Sarah Tunstall. The Kendal AC runner clocked 36 mins 33 secs, finishing 78 seconds clear of Sunderland Harrier Michelle Holt, with Carolyn Summersgill (Middlesbrough and Cleveland) third in 38.02.

Tunstall, who ran for the York Acorn club before moving to Cumbria, won the Mermaid 10K at New Marske in March and last year won the Victorian, Richmond Castle and Fountains 10Ks.
