NEW Marske Harrier Russ Best turned in one of his best-ever road racing performances to finish fourth, just outside the North of England Championships medals, in yesterday's big Ribble Valley 10K.
The 24-year-old Teesside University student - 28th when he last ran the Clitheroe event in 2012 - clocked a person-best 30 mins 28 secs behind the winner, Newham and Essex Beagle John Beattie (30.01).
The women's race was won by Kendal's Great Britain mountain-running international Rebecca Robinson - third last year - in 33 mins 55 secs, with Richmond and Zetland's Shona Fletcher fourth (35.48).
