HOPES are high that administrator Harvey Madden will announce details of a community takeover of Darlington Football Club this afternoon.
A press conference has been called for 3pm at the Darlington Arena where Mr Madden is expected to release information on the anticipated deal.
The administrator has spent more than a week in discussion with members of fans’ group, Darlington Football Club Rescue Group.
The rescue group has been working on a plan to form a community club to take over the club and bring it out of administration.
It is believed this will involve a shares issues with individuals, supporters’ groups and businesses invited to buy a stake in the club Darlington MP Jenny Chapman has been heavily involved in the talks to save the club.
She said last night: “I’m pleased that we have made further progress.
“I appreciate that this will have been a frustrating time for fans but I think it’s important to get the legal framework right before we make any announcement and I appeal to people to be patient just a little bit longer.”
The Northern Echo will be reporting live from the Arena at 3pm on The Northern Echo website.
