MIDDLESBROUGH have given a full debut to teenage striker Curtis Main in the hope that he can help knock North-East neighbours Sunderland out of the FA Cup.
Main, 19, was released by Darlington at the back end of last season and is one of two changes to the Boro team that started the 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace on Saturday.
The striker replaces Marvin Emnes, out with hamstring trouble, in attack while Faris Haroun also misses out with the same problem, meaning a return for ex-Sunderland midfielder Julio Arca.
The Black Cats recall Fraizer Campbell, who scored the equaliser in the first match between the two ten days ago, to the starting line-up.
He starts up front with Stephane Sessegnon and that means David Meyler drops down to the bench from the team that won at Stoke at the weekend.
MIDDLESBROUGH (4-4-2): Steele; Hoyte, Hines, Bates, Bennett; McMahon, Williams, Thomson, Arca; Main, Jutkiewicz. Subs: McManus, Ripley (gk), Ogbeche, Martin, Reach, Smallwood, Emnes.
SUNDERLAND (4-4-1-1): Mignolet; Bardsley, O'Shea, Turner, Richardson; Larsson, Colback, Gardner, McClean; Sessegnon; Campbell. Subs: Westwood (gk), Wickham, Ji, Meyler, Elmohamady, Reed, Lynch.
