NORWEGIAN Jon Andre Fredriksen will next week complete a move to Hartlepool United.

The Sarpsborg midfielder could join up with his new teammates on next week’s trip to Holland after playing for his club for the final time this weekend against the league leaders.

Director Bjorn Inge Nilsen said: “Hartlepool wanted him this week, but we said no. We want him to play against Sogndal before he leaves the club.

“It was been agreed with Hartlepool, but after Sunday’s game he travels to England to start with his new club.’’ Fredriksen, 27, a left-footed attacking midfielder, spent seven seasons with Moss before moving to Sarpsborg last year. He has started ten games this season.

“Jon Andre is a very energetic player and could provide us with some good competition down the left side so we’re interested,’’ boss Chris Turner told the club’s official website.

“We need somebody on that side to challenge Andy Monkhouse following Matty Robson’s decision to leave so it’s an area I’ve been looking at for a while.

‘’I’ve been out to Norway a number of times in the last few months to watch games in the two top divisions over there just to get a feel for the players and the level.’’ Pools have also been linked with a move for Australian international Kasey Wehrmann. Turner watched the midfielder in action on Monday night for Fredrikstad against Brann Bergen.

■ Former Pools defender Chris Westwood has signed a two-year deal with Wycombe.

Jon Bass, a former teammate of Westwood’s at Victoria Park, has announced his retirement after playing in the Conference for Salisbury.
