Middlesbrough have made their second signing in 24 hours when they completed the transfer of France U21 midfielder Didier Digard from Paris St Germain for a fee of five million Euros - or just over £4 million.
Digard, who will celebrate his 22nd birthday on July 12, has already passed a medical and has signed a four-year contract.
It is now planned that both Digard and fellow new boy Marvin Emnes will join Boro for the first day of pre-season training on Monday morning.
Boro boss Gareth Southgate said: "I'm very pleased that we've been able to bring Didier into the club.
"As with Emnes, he is another exciting young talent who fits the profile of young, hungry and ambitious players that we want here.
"Didier has played for France at every level up to under-21 and will really add to the competitive nature of our squad. He is a holding midfielder, who is a good athlete and a strong tackler."
Digard has played 88 league games in France for Le Havre and then Paris St Germain. He has eight France U21 caps.
