How did the players fare in Middlesbrough's 1-1 draw at QPR?
QPR (4-4-1-1):
Dieng 7; Kakay 7, Dickie 6, Barbet 6, Wallace 6; Cameron 6, Thomas 6 (Carroll 60, 6), OSAYI-SAMUEL 8, Amos 7; Chair 7 (Smyth 73); Dykes 5.
Subs (not used): Kelly (gk), Kane, Ball, Oteh, Masterson.
MIDDLESBROUGH (3-5-2):
5 Bettinelli: Might well feel he should have done better with the parry from Amos’ shot that led to Osayi-Samuel’s equaliser
5 Dijksteel: Didn’t look comfortable as QPR attacked their left in the first half, and looked happier when shuffled to right-back after the break
6 Hall: Should probably have won a penalty in the first half, but injured his leg at the start of the second and was unable to continue
7 McNAIR: The pick of the Boro side once again as he kept things tight in defence and delivered some dangerous set-pieces into the QPR box
5 Spence: Struggled defensively against the dangerous Osayi-Samuel and wasn’t able to make much of an impact in the QPR half
6 Saville: Put in a decent shift at the heart of midfield but wasn’t really able to offer anything in the final third
7 Howson: Covered a lot of ground as he shut down QPR’s midfielders and kept the ball moving effectively
5 Tavernier: Had one of those afternoons when nothing really came off, but kept on trying to make a telling contribution
6 Johnson: Had a difficult time in the opening stages, but grew into the game and looked much more comfortable in the second half
7 Akpom: Got his Boro career off to an ideal start as he produced a deft glanced header to convert McNair’s corner
6 Assombalonga: Ran himself into the ground against a dogged QPR defence, but a goalscoring opportunity didn’t really come his way
Subs:
7 Fry (for Hall, 55): Produced a point-saving intervention as he turned the ball away from his own goalline
5 Morsy (for Spence, 63): Was neat and tidy without ever really threatening to change the outcome of things in the final half-hour
(not used): Pears (gk), Bola, Coulson, Wing, Browne.
Man Of The Match: BRIGHT OSAYI-SAMUEL – Bright by name, bright by nature – the QPR midfielder caused problems with his pace and direct running.
