How did the players rate in Newcastle's 1-0 win over Watford?

NEWCASTLE (4-2-3-1):

7 Dubravka: Made a crucial block from Success, but didn’t actually have that many saves to make despite Watford’s first-half dominance

7 Yedlin: Produced a series of important blocks and interceptions, and gradually got the better of Pereyra in the second half

5 Lascelles: Didn’t look comfortable as Watford swarmed all over the Newcastle box in the first half, and was forced off with a shoulder problem

7 Fernandez: Grew in stature as the game wore on, and looked much more comfortable when Schar was alongside him in the second half

6 Dummett: Struggled against the lively Deulofeu for most of the first half, but deserves credit for refusing to buckle

5 Shelvey: Found himself completely overrun in the first half, and it was noticeable that Newcastle improved after he was replaced

6 Diame: Plugged away gamely, and what he lacks in flair and finesse, he generally makes up for with effort and energy

6 Ritchie: Failed to really offer much in the final third, but plugged away gamely and did some important defensive work

5 Muto: Started ahead of Perez in the ‘number ten’ role, but didn’t really make an impact before he was replaced on the stroke of half-time

8 Kenedy: An influential figure in both halves – delivered some dangerous balls into the box and produced a superb last-ditch tackle to deny Gray

6 Rondon: Provided an attacking focal point as he returned to the starting side, but still doesn’t look completely match sharp

Subs:

7 Perez (for Muto, 45): His arrival was greeted with a smattering of boos, but he made the difference as he headed home Ki’s free-kick

8 Schar (for Lascelles, 46): Provided the defensive composure that was missing from Newcastle’s display in the first half – excellent on the ball

8 KI (for Shelvey, 51): Transformed the game as he retained possession and patiently built his side’s attacks – also set up Perez’s winner

(not used): Darlow (gk), Manquillo, Atsu, Joselu.

WATFORD (4-3-3):

Foster 6; Femenia 6, Mariappa 6, Cathcart 6, Holebas 7; Capoue 6, Doucoure 6, Hughes 6 (Okaka 77); Deulofeu 6 (Gray 65, 5), PEREYRA 8, Success 5 (Chalobah 85).

Subs (not used): Gomes (gk), Masina, Sema, Kabasele.

Man Of The Match: KI SUNG-YUENG – The South Korean has not started a Premier League game since the start of September, but whether Shelvey is fit or not, that should change when Bournemouth visit Gallowgate on Saturday.
