TOM LATHAM produced a captain’s innings to keep Durham in the game on the second afternoon of the Specsavers County Championship match at Cheltenham.

The visiting skipper was unbeaten on 60 at tea, with his side struggling on 115 for four from 47 overs in reply to Gloucestershire’s 362.

Ben Stokes could make only three off 31 balls being caught in the slips driving at Kieran Noema-Barnett’s medium pace, while Craig Miles claimed two for 28 from ten overs.

Latham played solidly and by the interval had faced 143 balls and hit 9 fours.

Earlier, Stokes had completed figures of five for 52 from 25 impressive overs in the Gloucestershire first innings. But fellow England Test hopeful Mark Wood was unable to bowl owing to the foot injury he suffered on day one.
