WHEN the announcement that the safety car is to be deployed is received by the F1 drivers it will be a mixture of frustration and relief depending whether you are in the leading group or further down the field.
The leaders may well have a comfortable time in hand at that point, but it is immediately lost whilst the other drivers who may have thought their race was over are given a second chance.
At the end of the race the drivers on the podium may well not represent the true performances in the race overall which could be considered a little unjust.
