HARTLEPOOL UNITED have sold over 2,500 season tickets ahead of Wednesday’s early bird deadline.

And the tally could top last season’s 2,700.

Supporters have until 4pm on Wednesday to take advantage of the reduced prices as part of the early bird offer and the ticket office is remaining open until 6pm on Tuesday.

Long-time fan Tim Girvan was at The Vic at lunchtime on Tuesday with his son, Dylan, as they renewed their season tickets in the Town End for 2018/19 and got the chance to meet Director of Football Craig Hignett after helping sales reach the latest landmark.

“I’m looking forward to it loads more than I was last year – I’m quietly optimistic,” said Tim, a gas engineer from Trimdon and a season ticket holder for 25 years.

“It’s been a brilliant response to get up to 2,500. I think that signing those players last week and over the weekend has pushed more fans on to buy theirs.

“I think we’re all grateful to have a club after what happened last season and I didn’t really expect to see such high-profile signings as Liam Noble and Andrew Davies so I am impressed with that.

“The fans have put their money where their mouths are in buying tickets and the owners have done the same with the signings so I am quite confident we can have a good season.”
