SUNDERLAND have confirmed the signing of Scottish midfielder Dylan McGeouch.

McGeouch has joined the Black Cats as a free agent after turning down the offer of a new deal with Hibernian, and becomes Sunderland's fifth new arrival of the summer.

The 25-year-old, who started his career as a trainee with Celtic, has spent the last four seasons with Hibs.

He was offered the chance to sign for either Rangers or Aberdeen this summer, but opted to move to Sunderland after holding discussions with Jack Ross.

"Dylan has been really good for Hibernian and that’s culminated in him earning international recognition," said Ross.

"There were a lot of teams interested in him because he’s at a good stage in his career and he’s absolutely desperate to come down to England and show people how good a player he is.

"The fans will like him because he’s got a lot of quality."

McGeouch will now join up with the rest of Sunderland's first-team squad at their training camp in Portugal.
